Van Winkle and his wife Jane Van Winkle, was solved surprisingly quickly thanks to Mother Nature and some super sleuthing neighbors, 1800s style. Henry Tuttman purchased the home in Hawthorne where Judge John Van Winkle and his wife were murdered in 1850 in 2001. He tore down some walls to expose the stone work, and repointed the stones with concrete after chiseling out the hay and dirt that was originally used to set the stones. July 24, 200
