Aspects and Planets

A planet is conjunct to another planet when they are close to each other in the sky. Either in the same degree in the same sign or in adjacent signs. It is describing a union or joining of energies.

When planets are 60 degrees or two signs apart they form a sextile. A Sextile represents cooperation.

When planets are three signs or 90 degrees apart they form a square, which is an aspect of tension. The two energies are "squaring off" from differing elements.

A trine occurs when planets are 120 degrees apart and the planets are in signs of the same element (water, air, earth, fire). A trine represents flow and harmony.

When planets are on opposite sides of the zodiac they are in opposition. This aspect represents a challenge to reconcile two opposing forces or integrate two sides of an archetypal axis between opposing signs.
