Episode #35: 1905 Timeline Twist & The Chicago Teamster Riots

7/24/2024: On today’s episode, Valerie’s 1905 Timeline Twist covers bits of the “Rush Rev” (Russian Revolution), and details an unfortunate exposition in Amy Jo’s backyard, we learn how to make Scarface’s favorite salad and some Jell-O recipes that rival the timeless Jell-O classics from the 70s! Valerie introduces one her fave art movements, born in Paris out of scandal - suck it critics! We round out the TT with Dr. Charles’ Flesh Food, a miracle product able to beautify anything it touches - even if it’s wasted. Next, Amy Jo takes us on a brief journey through America’s early 20th century labor movement, including a group of Southern farmers who united and fought back against the man in the Black Patch Tobacco Wars. She presents the founding of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) who “changed American trade unionism forever” and details how the influx of immigrants to the US with anarchist ideals helped to form the movements of the day. Amidst this backdrop, we explore a brief timeline of the famous Chicago Teamsters Strikes of 1905.
